Okay, I get it. I did wonder after I asked, like maybe you don't use a clone. Can I ask, other than TM do you have any other bootable sources? I had my bacon saved recently, as you may have read, by a macOS bootable installer on a USB thumb drive. I've become a bit of an advocate for the idea. Cheap (free if you have a spare thumb drive), portable and very effective even if it's a backdated OS.

Yes Rod, I have a bootable installer of Mojave, because I haven’t made the one for Catalina yet. But I can do it tomorrow, if I remember. I always have one ready to use, and I have all the installers from Yosemite onwards.

So I'm preaching to the converted. ferrarr, do you use Terminal or some other means of creating your USB installer?

I forgot to add as I had already done it; Make sure you have updated everything (including supplemental updates) before attempting to install Catalina. Apparently Catalina requires the latest safari update for installation.

Yes, I use Terminal to create the macOS bootable USB installer.

Right now I’m on my iPad Pro, so I’ll get it done tomorrow.

Apparently Catalina requires the latest safari update for installation.

Hmmm...??? No mention of any such requirement as that at Apple's site or anywhere else that I can find.

Only macOS 10.9 listed as a Mac requirement at their download site..

Elsewhere, non-compatible Mac models are listed that obviusly won't work, at least officially.

PS: That's an excellent idea of waiting until at least the first .1 MacOS update. And maybe by then, the developer will have SuperDuper updated and compatible.

First of all, I never planned to obtain Catalina when it first came out. I knew that 1) it would contain bugs, and 2) most of my 6 critical applications would not be compatible yet with Catalina. Those same thoughts will be true next year also, for whatever Mac OS version comes out (OS 10.16).

Secondly, it is not a matter of luck. You definitely have misread what I have stated a few times already. My meticulous cleanup, maintenance, and backup activities are always, always the case.

Third, as I have also clearly stated before, Tech Tool Pro is the one critical app I have that is always the last one to have an update for the new OS compatibility. To repeat, that has been the case for at least the last 3 versions of the Mac OS: Sierra, High Sierra, and Mojave. And again, as I have stated before, for Sierra and High Sierra, I started with the .2 release of each of them, and for Mojave, it was the .3 release. I am willing to bet that for Catalina, I will not make the move until at least the .2 version has been released.

No way have I ever planned to start with the .1 release.
