    Thanks.
Yes, and if you have a backup system, it should already be backed up.

Please backup. Everything has a life cycle, unexpected and warning free. Nothing will last as long as you want it to.

Yes you can save it anywhere you like but it is probably more useful to convert it to a bootable installer and put that on a USB thumb drive. You can do this using a free app called DiskmakerX
It needs to be the right version for each macOS. With that and the instructions that are provided you can create a bootable Mojave installer which will enable you to boot a damaged or corrupted HD, repair it if possible with Disk Utility or erase and perform a clean instal of Mojave. This has saved my bacon once or twice including very recently where my HD became corrupted as well as my cloned backup recovery partition. I had a High Sierra bootable USB thumb drive with that I erased my SSD, reinstalled High Sierra then upgraded back to Mojave. Thevfirt thing I did after downloading the Mojave installer was make a new bootable USB thumb drive of Mojave. This process does not remove the Mojave installer so you will still have it and could still save a copy elsewhere but the Bootable installer has a longer shelf life.

DiskMaker X 8.0.1 for macOS 10.14 Mojave available now !

Tomos, the installer will not be in Downloads, but in the Applications folder. And as soon as it downloads, it will launch and offer to install. Just cancel out of that and the installer will still be in the Applications folder.

DiskmakerX is really dead simple to use. Just get the proper version as mentioned, put in the USB drive you want to use and then launch DiskmakerX. It will warn you that it will erase the entire contents of the USB drive, then after you authorize it, do its work. Not much for you to do but watch.

Tomos, supplementals are not the full update installers. Also, the installer is a app, not a dmg. All you need to do to get it is to go to the Mac store by clicking on the  symbol upper left corner and selecting the App store. Enter "Mojave" in the search box and the store will show you the installer.

EDIT: And what "disk keeper" are you talking about? Do you have any third party utilities installed that could be causing problems (Antivirus, malware, "helper" type stuff)?

OK, that's the correct version. And it's reporting that the file is not compatible because it's the wrong file. It should work with the proper download.

No, it will download to the Applications folder and then launch. You can cancel out of the install by using the top bar menu to close the installer. Then run DiskmakerX and it will use the file, named "Install macOS Mojave" to create the bootable installer on the USB drive.

Yes that's all there is to it. Great point about the location of the installer (and quitting it). While DiskmakerX is running it's hard to know if it's doing anything but be patient and you will find that Notification Center in Mojave will send you notifications on progress and completion.
