iMac every app won't open-get message "-- interrupted shutdown"
When I try to open any of my apps, Chrome, Adobe Premeire Pro, Photos, Safari, even the Activity monitor I get the message (app trying to open) Interrupted shutdown. The message flashes for 1/2 second then nothing happens.
    Specs:
    OS X Yosemite 10.10.5
    Late 2013 27 inch
    3.5 ghz intel core i7
    32 gb memory 1600 mhz ddr3

Any help is greatly appreciated as the iMac is useless at this point.

    Thanks

What have you already tried, so we don't reply with suggestions you've already attempted?

    Restart?
    Disk Utility > First Aid?
    Safe mode?

Please backup. Everything has a life cycle, unexpected and warning free. Nothing will last as long as you want it to.

Thanks for the response. I have powered off and restarted to no avail. I am able to get to disk utility, what do I do from there? Also what should I do when I enter safe mode?
    Thank you very much

Run the First Aid facility within Disk Utility and see if it repairs anything of value. Once you get into Safe Mode, try to open apps and see if you get the same error.

You should REALLY be upgrading to 10.14 Mojave unless you have a very good reason to be sticking with Yosemite 10.10.

Thanks for the quick responses. I restarted for the 3rd time and everything is back to normal. As far as installing Mojave I get the attached notice on the screen...I work in a school..On one of my computers I proceeded but have noticed that when I try to upload software I still get a notice that "Mac OS X 10.6 or later is required"....even though it is running that. I can show a screenshot in my next post.
    Thanks again

That sounds like you need to update your macOS Server version?
