I am nervous and Terminal Password Question
I have been trying to add a driver for a ham radio program. Having many troubles that started after upgrading to Mojave. I have a command to be entered in Terminal to disable the Apple driver (AppleUSBFTDI.kext) . It is a simple cut and paste but the password will not work. It says sorry try again. I am trying the same password as I do to log in but this is my wife's old computer (MacBook Pro mid 2012) and who knows what she did. She is unaware of having any other password.

I get nervous as it is in Terminal but how do I change or retrieve the Terminal password??

    Thanks

    David

If you can, create a new "admin" user account on the MBP.

If you don't have that ability, you may have to wipe the drive and reinstall Mac OS X/OS X/macOS.

Please backup. Everything has a life cycle, unexpected and warning free. Nothing will last as long as you want it to.

+1!! And take care to record the new user's password, and make sure it has admin permissions.

Before you create a new admin user, try holding down the CAPS key when you enter the password. Your wife may have entered the original password that way.
