Upgrade from Maverick to Yosemite SOZHello guys,
New to this forum,
I'm running OSX 10.9.5 (Maverick) and need to find an upgrade file to OSX 10.10(.5) (Yosemite) - and it seems pretty much impossible!
I don't want to upgrade to Sierra because my Mac book air 2013 is likely to massively slow down if I do that (according to reviews). I equally don't want to buy a new laptop as my machine is perfectly adequate!
I need to use certain software which requires at least osx 10.10 (Pro Tools 12) and I'm utterly stuck..
Does anybody have an old upgrade file and could share with me??
Would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for reading

The only way to obtain macOS legally is thru Apple. No one here is going to share a file with you. And what makes you think that your 2013 MacBook Air is going to massively slow down if you install Sierra or High Sierra? Make a clone backup of your system, upgrade to the latest version of macOS that your MacBook Air can run (High Sierra), then if it doesn't run right or your Pro Tools 12 doesn't run, you can always go back to Mavericks. You should be making backups anyway.

That so called review is useless. The OP has a 2012 machine and is complaining about a beta making his MBP slow. Sometimes that's what beta software does. Just use your own judgement as to whether or not your machine has slowed down or if there are problems. And as I said above, if you have a good backup you can always revert back to Mavericks.

That thread has at least two problems: 1) The person who complained was running Clean My Mac and other third party software that claimed to be "protecting" the Mac and 2) it was a beta release of HS. CMM is known to slow down Macs unnecessarily, there is no need for any third party protection (anti-virus) other than an ad blocker that ALL browsers should have and maybe malwarebytes to clean up some annoying scareware and malware that comes in through browsers. And a beta is, by definition, a test version which may or may not run well. "Beta" is short for beta-test, a testing step in software development where the programs are put in real-world scenarios to try to find hidden bugs before being publicly released. One should expect any beta version to have issues, that's why it's called beta and not final.

02-25-2018, 07:53 PM #8I'm running OSX 10.9.5 (Maverick) and need to find an upgrade file to OSX 10.10(.5) (Yosemite) - and it seems pretty much impossible!
ALERT: Pro Tools 12.8.2 and higher not supported with OS X 10.10 (Yosemite)
Users who are running OS X 10.10 (Yosemite) should upgrade their OS before updating to
Pro Tools 12.8.2 or 12.8.3 due to Graphical artifacts in Pro Tools 12.8.2 on Mac OS 10.10 Yosemite.
El Capitan was much better but also not readily available useless you downloaded it previously.
PS: I didn't know that Pro Tools for the Mac was still going. Sure no update according to this:
https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/11345/pro-tools
I'm assuming it's the same software. But maybe not???

El Capitan remains available to anyone with 10.6 or newer (App store):
