    Mail Drop failure

I have an iPhone 6S with the latest software upgrades installed and a MBP (2008) running OS X 10.11.6 El Capitan - the most recent operating system I'm able to use. I've used about 70Gb of the available 350Gb on my MBP hard drive.

I was hoping to transfer a record of a particular WhatsApp conversation (on my iphone) onto my MBP as a back up and have attempted to send an email to myself the file (around 40Mb - well within the max limit) attachment using Mail Drop.

It appears in my Inbox but I can't open the attachment on either device. Instead, a pop-up dialog box appears stating:

"The document “WhatsApp” could not be opened. The file isn’t in the correct format. The file might be corrupted, truncated, or in an unexpected format."

I tried resending several times without success.

If anyone can help with this or suggest another way of duplicating the Whatsapp data I should be good to hear from you.

    Thank you.

Your Mac can not read an iOS application. What made you think that the operating systems of your iPhone 6s and your Mac are the same?
