    Silverlight package file won't download

So I seem to have gotten myself into a worse situation than it should have been!

I've been trying to get Silverlight plug-in to work on Safari on my Macbook Pro. While I had the plug-in installed already, it wasn't working, and I thought it needed an update. Trying to update it through the Microsoft website did not work.

So, I looked online for how to remove Silverlight in order to start afresh. I closed Safari, found all the Silverlight files in Finder, and moved them into the trash. I then emptied the trash and restarted my computer.

I then went back to the Microsoft website to download Silverlight again. After downloading, the file showed up for a split second, then was gone! I searched but couldn't find it anywhere. So, I downloaded it again. Same thing. It shows up for a split second, and if I manage to double click it before it disappears, it says "file not found."

So now, I have no idea what I did to make the file download not work. I am sure I only removed Silverlight files before restarting, but could I have somehow messed something up?

Most importantly, what can I do to fix this and get Silverlight?

    Thanks for any help!

Did you try to get Silverlight from the Microsoft web page directly, or from some other "download" site? (The Microsoft web site says "Click to Install" - it doesn't offer a separate download method.)

Thanks for the reply. I did download directly from the Microsoft site.
