    It's Shift, not Option.

Now, that's very interesting because the Opt key held down as I click on Go in Finder, reveals "Library", whereas holding down Shift does something completely different. This applies on both my iMacs, one running 10.9.5 and the other 10.12.4.

So, for Jake and Ron, shift is the key (pun), but traditionally it has been Option and still is for me. I wonder what others experience.

BTW, just for discussion, the following link (posted Feb 2017) still talks about Opt + Go - about half way down. http://appleinsider.com/articles/17/...the-option-key

Just tested it again. Shift makes the Library appear in the Go dropdown. Option does not. Shift also changed the third option to "Select Startup Disk on Desktop" from the default "Enclosing Folder."

    macOS 10.12.4, Mid 2015, rMBP 15"

I don't remember making any changes to the system in this area, but I do remember vaguely using Option in the past. How far past I cannot recall.

EDIT: Maybe it's the Finder view? I use the List view. I'll test the others.

EDIT #2: Tested icons, still the same operations. So, now what?
