...I've been using the Mac platform since 1991....all of a sudden, with the release of El Capitan and Sierra, I can no longer get a desktop image of the booted internal hard drive on my desktop.
That's nutz....it is so convenient for getting to all of the stuff inside...as opposed to the stupid rocket ship.
If someone knows how to make that happen, please let me know....see the image below for what I want to do.

Open Finder -> Preferences ->General tab -> under "Show these items on desktop" -> check Hard Disks
