    Calendar problem.
Running a 2012 macbook pro with OSX mountain lion and i keep getting this flashing up on the calendar every time a turn it on. Not a massive issue just quite annoying.

The server is currently unreachable or the connection was blocked.

Any idea how to stop it? Any advice gratefully received.

Turn off your software firewall. It's not needed anyway.

The firewall will block incoming, not outgoing. From the sounds of the error message, the configuration is wrong or the server on the other end blocked the connection.

How do you have Calendar configured?

Just figured it out -- OpenDNS started blocking iCloud.com out of the blue :-O

If you use OpenDNS, you may be able to unblock it if you log into their control panel (through their website).

I can't imagine that they blocked iCloud without question. I know Apple has some major security problems with their cloud services (a nice read on that here) and I also know that OpenDNS has pointed to said issues (source) but I find it hard to believe that they unilaterally blocked iCloud without user consent.

How and where did you add iCloud to your list of domains to "Never Block"?

    Thanks

assuming you're using OpenDNS, you'd go to the Settings tab on your Dashboard. The page will be something like:

    https://dashboard.opendns.com/settings/yourAccountNumber/content_filtering

where yourAccountNumber is...drum roll please...your account number :-D
