Dysfunctional DVD Superdrive MacBook Pro
Dysfunctional (almost dead) DVD Superdrive MacBook Pro
My Macbook Pro Super Drive is no longer accepting most DVD's & CD's, the same ones that it used to. It will now only read original software & other DVD's & CD's & it will read DVD cleaners, but everything else it just kicks out. All of my saved work burned on my iBook G-4 DVD's & CD's are ejected & a few data CD's that it does mount it lists them as blanks, even though they were previously burned on the same machine & some on the iBook G-4.
My iBook G-4 reads & writes on all the discs that my MacBook Pro rejects.
I have tried compressed air, disc cleaners & clean OS re-installs, all to no avail. HELP, PEASE.

Sounds like it's time to replace the drive or get an external burner.
I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth.
In the Windows world, most everything folks don't understand is called a virus.

I agree with this assessment.
Quite honestly, slimline, slot-loading drives have never been all that robust. Fortunately, replacing it shouldn't be too difficult, but a cheap USB external would probably be the better approach.
I use one like this for certain tasks I'd rather not stress my internal drive with.Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics!
