Lion osx desktop backgroundsIs there a way to assign a different picture for each desktop in mission control?

Change to each screen, right-click and 'change desktop background' on each one.

I think all virtual desktops have to share same wallpaper. If I am wrong I'd also be interested to know how it's done.

All mine have different images.
They all started off with the image then on the first screen, but I just changed each one in turn.

After I displayed system preferences, I just drug it onto the next screen. Works great.

Different BackgroundsAny application can be assigned to a specific desktop(space), including System Pref's.
In Lion, just call up system-pref's>desktop/screensaver. Then right-click in the dock and select options>assign to: this desktop. Change your desktop pic as usual, then switch to a new desktop and repeat above. (Right-click on SP in Dock, assign to: this desktop, change desktop pic.) This will give a different pic on each desktop.

I have a stupid question, why would you have more than one desktop?
15 " 2013 MBP OS X Ver. 10.9.1 16 GB Memory, 500 GB SSD, Retina, 2.3 Ghz I7, 30GB IPhone 5, 2012 Mini Cooper JCW Coupe, 2014 Toyota Corolla, 2007 Trailblazer, 2 RC Planes, 1 fantastic wife who puts up with my toys. Still Married After 30 Years.

One scenario would be if you wanted multiple work spaces. Got a lot of windows or apps open for one task. You might want to give it its own work space.
Another is you have 2 or more people sharing the same computer but don't want or need separate accounts to log in and out of. You each get your own customized "desktop".
I hadn't even thought of assigning different desktop backgrounds, but I just tried it by creating a new desktop then right-clicking the background and selecting Change Desktop Background... It let me choose a different background and the other desktop stayed as it was. No need for any extra steps. Just that simple.64GB iPhone 6, 64GB iPad Air 2.
Reminder: Please include your Mac's specs. This will make it much easier for the other members to assist you.

That makes sense. Keep you wife off your turf sounds like the more likely use. LOL
Thanks for the info.
