Can't play a web video using airplay on a MacBook
In the link below is exactly what I want to do but the buttons don't appear:
Play web videos in Safari on Mac - Apple Support

I have a 2013 MacBook pro and an apple TV a1427.

Does the AirPlay icon show and which particular buttons don't appear???

    Maybe try some testing:
HTML5 Video Test Page | Tek Eye

    or
test web video - Google Search
    or
mac test web video - Google Search

I should that the airplay button does appear on youtube videos and other extremely popular sites but on sites such as open openload, or verystream and the like, the button does not appear.

On my iPhone however the airplay button appears on every site no matter what.

I tried the tests but not sure how helpful they were... the airplay button does show and the videos that should play, play

I don't really do very much with videos or with airplay but maybe some other members who do can pitch in and give you some guidance and help.

At least your iPhone seems to work so why not just use it???

If nothing else, try doing some Google searches I guess unless some other member produces an answer for you here.

And I guess another thing to check is the system requirements needed for each site you are trying to get working.

Maybe for some, the iPhone is supported but the iMac is not. I don't know and would have to check. You can do that if you haven't done so already.

Good luck. And sorry I didn't have an answer for you here.

After more research I just ended up buying a 3$ app (video settings for safari). Gives me that ability now. Also Mkplayer works as well for free.

As for the iPhone comment, I tried that but I hate using it. Its more practical for me on my MacBook.

I'm glad to hear you found a solution.

It's a crazy world of formats and standards out there these days.

Thank God for the people who can figure out how to create a "translator" to make some of it work. Then all one has to do is locate the one that works!!!
