Just an interesting note. Way back people were mad at Microsoft as you could not delete Internet Explorer from the OS. I think there was even a law suite over it. It was so part of the OS taking it out would destroy the OS.

I doubt Facetime or Messages is that way but still, they are small. I would suggest just do not use them.

You may own the hardware, but the software is only licensed to you by Apple. It sort of is their prerogative whether you can delete their apps or not. I'm still not sure how Facetime being there is going to affect you negatively.

+1. I don't know, but with Apple's attitude and High Sierra and Mojave's OS heading toward extreme paranoid security, but I wonder if some sort of OS install checksum is not being used to check that nothing gets disturbed (deleted) on one's OS that could mess things up.

Either way, most similar apps sure don't take up very much hard drive space, easy enough to compress and store somewhere else if needed.
(But don't ask me what you do with the original, as it's probably not easily trashable.)

I'm not sure I'd bother compressing or moving FaceTime for two reasons:
    1. Compression of small apps / files generally doesn't gin enough extra space to be worth the effort.
    2. Moving apps that are integrated into the OS can cause problems when attempting future installs/update. Not much of an issue for Snow Leopard as it is unlikely to get much, if anything, in the way of updates but the same is true for more recent versions of the OS.

And just for information.... The FaceTime app for iOS is still available from the US app store. I'm currently using iOS 12.3.1 on my iPhone 8.

The FaceTime app for macOS is a different application although it more or less works the same way and is included with the operating system.
