    Black Screen in Google
I have encountered a Black Screen when selecting Google, which is very alarming. I have tried various methods to revert to the usual, all to no avail. I would very much appreciate any advice and guidance that can be given so that I can fix this problem. My thanks in advance.

What Mac, what version of the macOS, what browser or what Google app, what do you mean by "various methods," and what do you mean by "selecting Google?" Get that information to us so we can see what we can help with.

    Thank you for your reply
    I have an iMac 27inch, Late 2015, macOS Mojave v.10.14.4. 2GHz Intel Core i5 8GB,
After initial start up I have Google Chrome as default browser this is in order to check emails etc. I was then horrified to see a black screen, but when selecting another site ie Amazon it was normal as I would expect. An initial internet search provided numerous solutions all resulted with no success at all. I have just switched to Safari there isn't a black screen in Google. There is however two points that I would like to put forward. I have enabled Dark Mode and to my surprise when disabled to problem disappears. So there are to my mind these solutions, select Safari as default and disable dark mode by reverting to Light Mode.
My apologies for the scant details I was anxious to ask for some help.

Sounds like Google's website is not ready for dark mode. Or that Chrome cannot handle dark mode. I think what is happening is that you are not getting a "black screen" but a black background with black lettering on it, which looks totally black to you, but which actually has information on it. If you are going to use Google, you may have to leave your Mac in Light Mode.

Maybe clear your Google Chrome cache?

I have an idea that I read something about this in the latest Mojave 10.14.4 update details. Something related to comparability for sites capable of displaying dark mode if selected. I skimmed over it but I note that when I bring up the Google Search page (which I assume is what you're referring to) in Chrome with Dark Mode enabled on my MBP it still comes up as white.

The latest updated version of Chrome is: Version 73.0.3683.86 (Official Build) (64-bit) and it supports Dark Mode according to Google. So there may be something else going on to cause the black screen or abnormalities when using Chrome.

Maybe Google haven't released a dark mode version of their home page yet?

Nope. Their page is working fine here with dark mode on. The Google page looks great in Dark Mode.

Many, many thanks for all your replies I am really indebted to you all.
Yesterday was very stressful for me, I was really at a loss at to what to do in order to rectify the problem. As I mentioned previously it was just by chance that I tried disabling Dark Mode and voila it worked Dark Mode gone and Light Mode now in use.
Think I'll stick with Safari. Many Thanks once again.
