Can someone let me know what the latest available version of Microsoft Office for mac is?
I'm currently running 2011 and am wondering whether there is a newer version available?

I'd advise against using the preview for day to day stuff if you work on really important documents. It was fairly solid here but it is still a preview and something may go catastrophically wrong.

+1 for those comments about the Preview. I run it on and off just to see how it's developing. Just last night I downloaded several Preview updates for Word and Powerpoint. It's stable but the overall interface is still a bit rough. Mac Office 2011 is what I use for my day to day work.

And from their website and a recent Macworld review, it appears that Office for Mac 2016 (as I believe it will be called) is only compatible with Yosemite. You didn't mention which OS your Mac is running.
