    Disk Utility-Repair disk = erase disk?
    does the repairing my startup disk erase my files? cuz im using my school laptop and im scared that ill lose my data :S

    Repairing the HD does not erase anything, no.
    Magnifique shouldn't affect it, unless it is what's causing errors on your HD. Why do you need to repair?

    Well, my friend said that repairing my hard drive will get me back some of my hard drive space. Does it?

    Means what you mean by 'unaccounted'.

    A HDD when formatted uses about 10-15% of available space for that purpose. So a 40 GB HDD will use up about 5/6GB when formatted.
