    iPod 6G battery draining fast
    Hi,

I have recently purchase an iPod Touch 6G. The battery is draining very fast. It last only 4 to 5 hours on continuous music playback and if I leave it aside over 24 hours ( with the screen turn off ), the battery will show from fully charged to red level by the following day. Is this normal? My older generation iPods has much better battery life by comparison. The website says 40 hours of battery life.

I already turn off wifi and bluetooth and also already upgrade to the latest OS but still same problem persist. I did not install any app in the iPod Touch and use it purely as a musical playback device.

Will appreciate any suggestions and advice before I send in for service.

    Thanks in advance.

Are you playing music primarily from the cloud? If so, and you have a weak network connection (cellular or wi-fi) a good deal of battery power will be drained as the device looks for a good connection.

Our moderator "Slydude" is very likely correct. The 6G will suck up its battery looking for a WiFi connection especially if your WiFi is spotty or weak. If you do have a strong WiFi connection and that's not the problem, then you can try resetting the 6G using iTunes. Make sure you have a backup first before doing that.

Hey Charlie, Would you be willing to record that and put it on a loop? SWMBO does not seem to believe me when I say it.

LOL, yeah sometimes our "echo" goes unheard. However, after 35 years I've gotten used to it.

A couple of weeks ago one of our members referred to me as a genius because I solved whatever problem they were having at the time. Naturally I informed SWMBO of this. Here response was something akin to "I've been married to you for years. I know better".

No, I only play downloaded music I bought from iTunes store.

It's possible that you have an app that is using the battery in the background. Select the battery option from "Settings" and see if you can determine which app if any is using the battery. If you can't determine anything that way, attach your 6G to your Mac or PC and do a reset from iTunes. Make sure you have your data backed up first. If after the reset, you're having the same problem, then it's likely hardware. Apple charges $79.00 here in the US to change the battery to a new one.

I see you're in Indonesia. You'll need to take the 6G to an authorized Apple dealer.
