    iPhone Volume Stuck on "High"
    iPhone 5, Model MD654LL/A

My phone volume adjustment is stuck on high (loud). The button to lower the volume no longer functions. Adjusting the Ringtone volume does nothing. The "Change with Buttons" is "On."

    Your thoughts, gentlemen?

    Thanks.

Try it with "change with buttons" off?

    Try a restart?

    Try a hard restart?

    Try "Reset all settings"?

    Which iOS version?

Please backup. Everything has a life cycle, unexpected and warning free. Nothing will last as long as you want it to.

Have you tried to reboot the phone? Sometimes that works to clear up annoyances such as you're experiencing. If that doesn't work, it's possible your phone is defective. An iPhone 5 has been around for quite some time so it might be time to shop for another. Apple is still selling the iPhone SE at their clearance site.

Please remind me how to do that.

    Not yet.

I won't delete anything as long as I select "Reset All Settings," right?

That is Apple's way of telling you that you need to upgrade your phone that is 5 generations behind!

Hard reset - Hold down power and home button at the same until you see the Apple logo.
Reset all settings - This does not delete any data/apps or anything, just puts all the settings back to the factory defaults to see if one of those is causing your volume not to work.

I believe that you are correct, sir. It's been a spendy year so far, and we haven't finish February yet. But I guess a new phone is in order.

If you tried all that was suggested and still no go, to me is sounds like the Down button for the Volume is messed up inside the phone. those buttons can and do mess up with a lot of use. So far I have been lucky with my old iPad and phone but I am very careful with it.
