    Exclamation iPad 2018 issue found
Hey guys. Hope you're are doing good. Newbie here. iPad Mini 4 user for a year almost. A few days ago bought me an iPad 9.7 2018 (6th gen, WiFi only) too. Noticed that it gets considerably hot in the region below where the A10 Processor is located (as depicted in the picture linked below for clarity) like when doing tasks such as casual browsing (Safari), Twitch streaming, Youtube, etc.

Guess "considerably" here could be a relative term. I use all of my devices with no cover/cases. Haven't felt the same issue with the iPad Mini 4 even with its thin and small body. Also, have no clue whether it's a normal phenomenon with the current gen entry-level 9.7 iPads. Played some graphics intensive games to find out this abnormality in the region being hot. As expected it pumped up the temperature on the region of A10 processor. But I don't get it why there is a rise in temperature around the region of WiFi/Bluetooth module & Touchscreen controller during the usage of other apps. Does anybody have any idea of this? Any iPad users experiencing the same?

Though I don't have a thermal image of the device to prove my point. I did reinforce my doubt with the help of people I shared the device with. I also have a few days left if in case I want to exchange the device. Again, if exchanging is the only way I don't know how will I be able to prove the issue to the guys in the store for a new device. Please help a sister in concern.*

Apple has a 14 day refund policy, so if you are within that period and aren't satisfied with the iPad, don't bother diagnosing it. Just take it back and get a refund. You can now try to purchase another iPad 9.7 and see if it has the same issue, if it does, then it's likely how they all are.

As ashwin mentioned, just return it and do so soon and before your allowable Apple return-time expires.

I'll be surprised if they even show any interest in the "found problem".

I've always used all my iDevices with cases, so there is no issue with my 1st gen 12.9" iPad Pro.

Please backup. Everything has a life cycle, unexpected and warning free. Nothing will last as long as you want it to.

Agree with all others. Return for full refund and buy again.

But I wonder what "considerably hot" means. Please don't for a minute think I am being sarcastic. All iPads warm up a bit in the region you mentioned after any usage over a period of time. If you're talking warm, not a problem. If you're talking "hot, you can barely touch it" then that is not right.

As you are worried and this is your first full sized iPad, return it for full refund and get a new one.

Between my wife and I, we've had maybe 6 iPads. Warm, yes, burning hot, never.

Contrary to some reports out in the wild stating that both of you have apparently been "hot" several times. Just in case there was any confusion.

OK Ian. I know what you're saying.

I still have a few relatives living over there and take a peek at some of the UK online newspapers and some are still quite over the top regarding their content and many are way past what the News Of The World used to publish or is it still running???

Oh right, but not too surprising.

The surprising part I guess is that they actually got caught or at least with enough evidence to prove them guilty.

    emily:

Don't mess with it. Just return it as advised above. It's up to you if you wish to try another one or not. If the new one you get acts the same way, then it's likely that all will be that way as Ashwin pointed out.

    And Welcome to our forums.

    +1, agree!!!

And just an additional thought, aren't there some even newer 2018 iPad models possibly being released in a month or two???

Of course, they could have some quirky problems as well!!!

I also agree to everyone's suggestion, that you should return your iPad, get a full refund and buy a new one. It's a consumer right to return a faulty product and get a refund or a replacement. So, just ask for a replacement and see if it has the same issue, then it's probably how they all are.
