I think it's not imagination but forgetfulness of the "problems" in the past. There has never been a bug-free release of any OS, including OSX and macOS. That's why the dot releases come out. What Apple is doing, from my perspective, is speeding up the bug-to-fix cycle to be faster. And that's a good thing.

I don't know how they develop an OS upgrade, but I would expect them to keep and develop a good basic base OS and just add and/or make improvements to it. But from all issues, it seems that they almost start over from scratch and rewrite the whole operating system (OS) as if it were completely new, and then incorporate any new changes or improvements, some of which are not properly integrated.

Why can't they just add the OS changes or improvement to an existing OS that was already good and working well???
Hardware changes. New cameras, new processors, new modems, you name it. The integration of hardware and software is much tighter now with all the secure enclaves, etc. So the OS has more changes to take advantage of the hardware. Not a total rewrite, but enough changes that it feels like one.

Also, why do they keep dropping small little features that many of us relied on?
Because they don't agree that the features are useful, or have heard from other users that the features are not useful, or distractive, or otherwise not wanted. They cannot meet every person's design desires, so they listen to those they trust most. I don't know who that may be and I don't always agree with those decisions, but that's how software is developed. I know because I was in that industry for 30 years and we just had to recognize that no matter what we did, somebody would be unhappy. My motto was "distribute the unhappiness evenly."

Maybe they should rethink about releasing a brand new OS every single year and fix ALL the things in a current major version before releasing a brand "New and Improved" OS complete with all its new and incompatible causing bugs.
Again, hardware drives it. Think how the market (stock market, that is) would react if Apple decided to skip a year for iPhones, iPads, etc.

And like Ian, I'm not on an Apple rant but just a queary and a suggestion, and no I don't expext things to change.

    Just saying...

Did you upgrade to iOS/iPadOS 13?

At first, I didn’t have an issue, but then I noticed an “upgrade” option on my iPhone Reminders app, when I was going through my Reminders, and I pressed it. Now I am unable to access them on my Mini. I also noticed a few of them are missing, so I will have to wait until Catalina to see if I can find my missing reminders.

For the moment I just try to remember not to touch any reminders on either of the devices I upgraded. I only do that on my iPhone Xr and iPad Pro, neither of which has been upgraded yet.

Incidentally my old iPad has the beta and my old iPhone the live version. Oddly, both report they have same version, even though the profile is still active. Has the live version now caught up with the beta?

Patrick - I agree. This "create a new OS version" with all kinds of bells and whistles then having to rush out fixes one right after the other is very annoying. What is really annoying is when something you depend on is broken and the wait begins for them to fix it.

I am not on board with always keeping the original OS and just improve it. Eventually code bloat will be inevitable. Just look at Windows. Sometimes starting over is a good thing.

Yes. I am running iOS 13.1.2 on the iPhone, ipadOS 13.1.2 on the iPad and Mojave 10.14.6 on the MBP. All signed into iCloud, everything as before the upgrades. I ddi get the "you have to upgrade" message, but it seems to have worked just fine. I never loaded any betas, could that be it?

I have the Fantastical2 complication only on my watch face.

I emailed Flexbits who developed Fantastical2 and they told me they are aware of the issue. It is an iOS problem but they are working on it. Jordan, the gentleman who replied, said he had the same problem on his watch. At least there is motivation to fix it.... I hope.

What is most annoying is being notified for EVERYTHING! At work they list everyone's meetings, birthdays - including kids and grandkids, etc. So I have to look when my watch vibrates to see if the notice is for me.

Oh, and don't get me started on the changes to reminders and app updates... but others have addressed these aggravations.

Me too Lisa, fortunately I'm retired so what I get are just duplications but one reminder would be enough.

And while were all having a rant, which brainiac decided it would be a good idea to swap the direction of the Rotate button in the Edit function of Photos. Just when I got used to planning for anti clockwise they've gone and changed it to clockwise. Seems like a change for the sake of change.

Arrrrgh! This thread killed it! This morning all my reminders on my iPhone were wiped out, replaced with a message that the app is no longer compatible and won't work until I upgrade to Catalina. But I can't upgrade to Cat when it comes out because I have a printer that I have to have work and whose developer doesn't know when a 64-bit driver would be available. So I'm stuck.

And I'm blaming all of you for this...just wanted you to know.

Yeah, Sue started a thread about this the other day.

Yup, that's what happened to me. You allowed the Messages iOS upgrade, at least you can still access them on your iOS devices.

My two bits bet says that there is a pool of Apple developers with an ongoing bet as to how many users they could **** off and annoy and who would be the first to call in and complain or even notice.

So why not be the first to call in???

Then at least the group of developers can high-five each other to confirm that they were at least able to get one user, and one of them will probably win the pool bet.

    EDIT:
Yeah, Sue started a thread about this the other day.
    Gee, I missed that.

Maybe Sue should call and complain as well, but that would probably just amuse the developers some more.

My wife's iMac is an old (2012) one and she still has High Sierra. It is less vulnerable than iPhones which, as you say, should always be updated if possible.
