Do NOT install the beta on your primary device or one that you want to use without issues as the beta will have issues and you will have to continually update to avoid those issues. Running the beta is NOT for everyone, you should just wait until the official public release in a couple of months.

Yes, running the iPad beta on a spare, and it does have issues.
Interesting - the same but different is my overall view.

Agree with Ashwin. I use my tablets too much to have a Beta with bugs. If I had an extra tablet that would run it then I would give it a try.

    Very good advice.

Yes, but remember that you will always be in the beta cycle (including updates) after the GM launches. So, all of your updates will technically be betas until they are released to the general public. If you want to stop betas after the GM launches you just need to remove your beta profile and then update.

Great advice from John. Most folks don't realize that they remain in the beta cycle even after the gold release.

I just took the chance and installed the beta on my 6th gen iPad. So far so good and I think I like the new home screen. I however won’t recommend my bf install it on his air I just got him, I’m trying to get him to switch from android to iOS.... think he should wait for the final version.

Have to agree with you there. I haven't had huge problems with previous betas but it's not the best way to introduce someone to any operating system.

I'm not in the current iPad beta cycle because my iPad won't support it otherwise I'd be right in the deep end of the pool to to speak.

The only thing that seems odd is it shows a red circle with a 1 by software updates, but yet doesn’t show any. Not a big deal though.

Is the red 1 next to the software update area or is it pn the main Settings icon (gear). If it's by the gear it may mean there's some other update needed? Mine, for example, has a 1 by the main "gear" section. There's a different update i need to make. You can see which one is needed by opening the settings section and seeing exactly where that 1 icon is located.

It must have still been doing something, it went away on its own now. So far so good. I guess we’ll see how it acts in the coming days. But I think I like it.

Yes, and it will not upgrade to the next beta of the next planned iOS. To do that you would have to download the next beta profile (iOS 14). Once the final release is out, sometime in September you can delete the old beta profile from your device.

The only like bug I found so far is the native mail app. It sometimes shows there is new mail even after I already looked at them and deleted them.

Agreed it’s a bit buggy. I’ve found that a restart fixes everything so far and both my iPad and iPhone can run for days before a restart is required.

Yeah it doesn’t do it all the time, and it doesn’t look like it bothers the performance of my 6th gen iPad at all which is good. Course it is only a week old.

This is not a disclaimer but my original intent in starting this thread was to let people know how to download the public beta of iOS and ipadOS for the purposes of testing and experiencing the changes of this new operating system.
I downloaded it onto my iPhone because I am in the process of buying a new one and am not reliant on it for work or essential communication. Also I have to time and the necessary tools and knowledge to reverse the upgrade if necessary.
Everyone should keep in mind that this is a process that allows the public to test and feedback to Apple their findings on new iOS releases prior to the final production release which in itself will almost inevitably have a few bugs anyway.
So if you like to be a part of the development of new software as I do and have a non essential device to use for the process by all means download a public beta. If not beware.
