iCloud, Photos and iCloud Photo Library
    Hello,

I have not had many problems with my Mac or iPhone that I could not resolve myself but this really baffles me!

Ok, so I signed up for iCloud storage so I could store all my photos in iCloud as a backup. I also use Time Machine so I have a local backup but this off-site backup seems like a pretty good idea.

Anyway, after signing up from my iPhone, ALL my photos from my Mac were downloaded onto my iPhone. This basically filled up my iPhone and I didn't even want this feature. I basically want to have all the new pictures I have taken to be uploaded to iCloud so I don't loose them in case my phone is damaged, stolen, etc. So I proceeded to turn off iCloud Photo Library on my iPhone and My Photo Stream, thinking this would delete all these photos that were uploaded onto my phone. Well I was wrong; all the photos are still on my iPhone and I cannot seem top get rid of them! I have tried going into Photos on my Mac and remo0ving them but that option doesn't seem to exist. I have tried going into Image Capture and deleting them from there but the delete option is greyed out.

    My questions are:

    1. How do I get rid of these photos from my phone?
    2. How do I simply have the NEW photos I take upload to iCloud but NOT download my entire library to my phone.

I have an iPhone 6s Plus running iOS 9.2 and a Mac running OSX 10.11.2

    Thanks!

Had this problem running the same OS as you on phone and MBP but managed to sort it. Settings are everything 'off' on phone apart from My Photo Stream. Same on Mac.

    Hey badshoehabit,

I tried the settings on all my devices and Mac that you posted but the pictures still seem to be there. I even tried syncing the iPhone with the Mac and restarting the iPhone but they are still there!

Still no ability to delete the photos either....

    Any other thoughts?

Presumably they are in Photo Stream; you could try Select > Select All and delete. Then maybe shut down and reboot phone.
