    Way confused with Airport passwords
I am changing all my passwords, and am really confused with the 3 Airport passwords vs our network. I have a password for the Airport base station, Airport extreme, and an Airport network password. Plus, I have a Network password. WTB? I have an iMac as a base, I guess you'd call it, and my wife has a laptop a few rooms away. The router, etc, are here w/ me. What are all these passwords for, and which one(s) does/do my wife need? Thanks for the help. John

Your Airport base station and Airport extreme need a password set to access the settings that determine how they will work. The password is necessary to protect you from possible outside hackers.

The network password is to allow a person to access your wireless network for internet access. If your wife is accessing the internet wirelessly then she needs the network password. If the iMac connected to the internet through a network cable it will not need a password to access the internet. If it is using a wireless connection it will need the network password too.

The airport passwords will be needed to access your apple airports if you need to access their settings using the Airport Utility.

BTW: While not recommended, all of these passwords can be the same one.
