photoshop/lightroom replacement

After many, many years of using/subscribing to adobe for its photoshop & lightroom, I realized that over time, I have used those apps less and less--certainly NOT for the $10+ I pay each month. BUT-there are those times not having photoshop to edit a photo would really be detrimental AND I really love the way I can organize my 30,000 pics the way I want to, instead of Apple. So--does anyone have a suggestion for a replacement? I am considering adobe's PS Elements for edits, but unsure for a LR replacement

Well, I am a great fan of Affinity Photo which, in my personal view, lies well above anything Apple has offered (including Aperture) and maybe just a touch below Photoshop.

Agree w/ Ian - I have the Affinity Photo & Pixelmator Apps on my Mac computers - both are feature laden and powerful programs (and have a learning curve different from Photoshop, which I used a lot on PCs back in my academic days of yore) - checkout the Review of 10 Apps; might help you make a decision. Dave

I have PS Elements 11 which is ancient and soon to be unusable because of 64bit. I use it only very occasionally so find I have to watch videos every time because I've forgotten how. If you're familiar with the full monty PS it should be an easy transition. The editing menu in Photos gives me 95% of what I need. Retouching is the most wanting.

May try the Affinity free trial.

Serif, the company that produces Affinity has been around for many years going back to Windows 3.0. I still have some of their software I purchased back in the 90s. They have always been great with prices and support. Even though I don't use photo software, I recommend their Affinity Photo.

Another vote here for Affinity! There products are fantastic! Software upgrades are free. Support is very good. And while I would not say Affinity Photo is a 1-for-1 replacement for PS, it's damn close at a fraction of the cost.
