Logitech MX Master 2S Mouse... anyone using it?
I've been using a Logitech wireless Mouse and Keyboard on my old Mac for over 10 years. So when the new Mac 27" arrived two weeks ago, I gave the Apple Magic Mouse a shot, but decided that I really like the feel of a thumbwheel, especially in Photoshop. So I ordered a MX Master 2S and I've been using it for about 3-4 days and I like the weight and grip, but the "lightness" of the thumbwheel will probably take some time to adjust to. I know the wheel speed can be altered, but the physical feedback is what I'm talking about. Feels like its almost too easy to rotate. In the old Logitech Mouse, it felt like there was some deliberate pressure needed to zoom a graphic, image or whatever.

Any other MX Master 2S users out there and if so... have you adjusted yourself to the mouse or somehow tailored the mouse in settings to your liking?

I'm not a MX Master 2S user, but sure do like my Logitech M705!!!

For your scrolling issue, have a look at these or the mother list here:

    Pat...

After a week of fighting with the Logitech MX Master 2S I've decided to return it and for the time being, get a M705. The Logitech site has numerous complaints about the scrolling sensitivity, and I just got off the phone with them and they say they are working on it but don't have a solution yet. Big problem for me in Photoshop when matter which mode, ratchet or smooth, no matter what the settings... you can only scroll in 15-20% increments. When your trying to size a graphic element you have to resort to the keyboard. Returning it to Amazon.

That's unfortunate and I sure hope the M705 works a lot better for you.

I bought mine on sale ($30.00 cdn @ Staples) and have a spare as some of the the originals had a weak left micro switch which would lead to unwarranted double-clicking. Sort of fixable but not worth it if you can buy one cheap enough. Otherwise they got excellent reviews as a smooth working mouse. But do use a good quality smooth surface mouse pad for best results.

Apparently the problem with the MX Master 2S has something to do with the bluetooth connectivity, but I think its bigger than that. Just for kicks, I pulled out an old MS Intellimouse and USB connected it to the Mac, and I shut off the BT mouse. The old MS mouse was as smooth as could be in PS. I'll probably use it until the new mouse comes on Saturday because the MX is so bad.

Not much wrong with MS USB mice that I've ever experienced, unlike many BT mouse of all brands.

The price is better usually with the M705 and you should appreciate the almost three year battery life and the way it works.

Is there a wired version of the Logitech M705?

I keep replacing the USB cable on my MX510 mice every few years, but eventually I assume the mouse itself is going to bite the dust.
It's just that the shape of the MX510 fits my hands perfectly and I also don't want a BlueTooth or other wireless mouse - tried a few, don't like the initial delay when it wakes up and I also tend to misplace it.
The wired version has to stay on my desk or at least no more than a few feet from my keyboard.

The Logitech M705 is USB wireless only and acts just like any wired Logitech mouse I ever used, well actually better I'd say. And the two AA batteries do last almost three years for me and I never even turn it off.

There is NO delay as some BT mice have and from the photos it looks like your MX510 is a bit more rounded and maybe a tiny bit narrower than the Logitech M705 but I couldn't find any actual measurements.

They both seem to have about the same number of buttons and features, and if you want a "wired" version of the Logitech M705, I guess you could always attach a string or cord to it. But mine has never wondered off or away from my desk.

And you just might be interested in this video and Holy smoke, I can't believe the price that some are asking for the Logitech MX510 mouse these days, but users sure seem to love them:

I understand that Logitech has changed the skid pads on the most recent versions of their Logitech M705 slightly, but I have no idea if it makes any difference or improvement.
I understand that they may have also improved the microswitches which could malfunction after a year or so on the latest made Logitech M705.

    Thanks for the video.

I must be hard on my mice, I already replaced the USB cable on the MX510's I have twice.

The cables always get intermittent right at the point where it connects to the mouse body.

The M705 arrived earlier today, I've been messing with it for an hour or so, still having problems with the zoom/scroll wheel.

    1. In Photoshop CS6, rotating the M705 thumbwheel jumps the image typically in about 20% increments when using the ratchet or smooth turn. So imagine you're trying to expand or shrink a photograph to fit in a piece of artwork and it says its at 20% as you look at it but decide it needs to be somewhere between 20% and 30%... but using the thumbwheel, just hardly moving it zooms up to 53%! Thats exactly the same as the MX Master 2S bluetooth mouse. Conversely, when I plug in the MS intelimouse, the thumbwheel grows or shrinks the same image in less than 1% increments.

    2. Also in Photoshop, the thumbwheel function is messed up. If you want to use the PS "Stroke" function, you can't scroll up and down in smooth increments from 2 to say 6 sequentially. It doesn't even move.

    3. Add to this that there's no instructions with this specific mouse and that Logitech's web site is mass-confusion site... I'm beginning to wonder if its me or Logitech?

    4. Sometimes the M705 almost seems OK when browsing but occasionally the cursor will fly all over the place and disappears for a second.

So is anyone using a Logitech wireless mouse, specifically the MX Master 2S or the M705 with Adobe CS6 Photoshop? If so, can you clue me in on your settings so I can figure out whether its my settings or the mice. Keep in mind that the 15 year old MS Intellimouse works 10 times better except its got that old school cable.

I use the Logitech M705 USB wireless mouse and have done so for many years and have been very satisfied with it, just like many other local users who I have recommended it to, but I don't use any Adobe Photoshop type applications.

Have you tried the various settings in the System Preferences > Mouse settings or in the Logitech Control Center?

Also, the mousepad being used can make a tremendous difference for both good or poor results. And a patterned mouse pad can cause very erratic mousing control, as can any wireless interference.

Just some things to check and consider.

For some reason, when I try the Logitech Control Center... the Mouse refuses to Pair with the dongle. I've followed the instructions to a "T" and still no joy. Yet, despite it _NOT_ pairing, the mouse works just doesn't scroll the way it should, doesn't do some of the other normal functions. For all I know, the Bluetooth mouse is fine, but something is wrong with the software. I just wish they had a Mac-specific driver or something else I could try.

But I have to find somebody who is using Adobe CSX Photoshop and a Logitech mouse.

Are you using Mojave and do you have the most recent Logitech software:

Thanks for your hanging in there with me Pat. So yeah... I've got the latest software and firmware, that all checks out. What is weird is that the M705 Mouse only works semi-properly when its within 10" of the iMac. The thumbwheel problems listed above aren't fixed, but the cursor doesn't get lost. Move it further away and it goes bonkers, with the cursor stopping dead in its tracks as you scroll over an open window, then re-appears someplace else on the screen. Whenever I try to run the pairing software, I get told it can't pair in the time frame allotted or something like that. I switch the mouse on and off per instructions, doesn't seem to change anything. Frankly, I'm at my wits end, can't seem to find anyone using CS6 Photoshop, a Logitech Mouse, and an iMac. I've posted here, in the Adobe Forum, and in the Logitech community. And then I can't figure out why the old wired USB MS Intellimouse works... I have to assume that something is wrong with the Logitech Unifying Modules or software.

That is so wierd and strange. Not typical at all and especially when it "Can't be found" to pair. No wonder it doesn't work properly

I'd give Logitech a call and get things sorted out and working.

    Are you using Mojave perhaps???

You might wat to give these a try, even if just to test:

    and/or
    USB Overdrive etc

PS: Make sure the Logitech receiver is well plugged in and connected.
