Independence Day is a strong holiday for sales and brings savings on a wide variety of items. Whether you're shopping online only this year, or in between cookouts and fireworks with family, you're bound to find great 4th of July deals on clothing, electronics, and patio furniture.
You don't have to wait until July to shop the first Independence Day sale, either — events should start popping up weeks before the holiday itself.
When Do 4th of July Sales Start?

Expect the first 4th of July sales to drop in mid-to-late June. Last year, REI hosted the first sale we saw for the holiday, kicking it off by June 22. This year, we expect sales to begin around June 20.

Take 60% Off Electronics

If you want to upgrade your audio system, know that 4th of July sales will provide plenty of chances to save. Last year, World Wide Stereo took up to 60% off sale items via a coupon code, while Harman Audio knocked up to 60% off select portable speakers, headphones, and other items during its sale. Best Buy, meanwhile, had a 3-day sale on TVs just before the holiday, with prices starting as low as $120. A few days later, it took up to $500 off select Samsung sets during its formal 4th of July sale.
What if laptops, desktops, and monitors are on your wish list? Then keep an eye out for Dell Home's Black Friday in July sale. Last year, shoppers could save on systems priced from $699, but strong deals on audio, smart home items, and TVs were also available.
Score Clothing That's 80% Off

July 4th sales are a great opportunity to change your wardrobe or restock your closet. Expect to see discounts as high as 80% off, but offers between 40% and 60% off will probably be popular, too. Watch for Levi's End of Season Sale to take 50% off men's, women's, and kids' clothing; it'll be a good time to stock up on denim for the school year.

In need of new athletic shoes? We expect Joe's New Balance Outlet to take up to 70% off again in 2020. And don't forget to check out the 6pm Summer Clearance Sale if it returns, as it could bring discounts as high as 80%. If you're looking for more dapper picks to fill your closet, consider Jos. A. Bank. We expect the menswear retailer to knock up to 70% off during its 4th of July sale.
Save Over 50% on Patio Furniture

Although patio furniture sales might not be a huge part of 4th of July events, there should be a fair number of individual deals worth shopping. If you opt to shop sales, look for department stores to take 30% off, and for retailers like Wayfair to cut as much as 65% off.

As for individual July 4th deals, we expect patio umbrellas to fall to $38, while select chairs could be sold in sets of two for $48. But what if you need a whole patio set? Know that 3-piece sets will likely cost as little as $78. Basic 5-piece dining sets should be as affordable as $110, while even nicer-looking rattan sets will probably be priced at $144 for four pieces. And if you require an even bigger setup, you could find a 7-piece outdoor sofa set starting at $375.
Get Outdoor Gear for Less

Even if you have to wait, shopping 4th of July sales is a good way to upgrade your outdoor gear. We expect ****'s Sporting Goods to take up to 50% off during its sale, while stores like Backcountry and REI will likely discount items by up to 40%. Columbia, meanwhile, could have another fishing sale, providing a great opportunity to create or refresh your tackle box, or stock up on clothing for the activity. Last year, we saw prices drop as low as $12 for individual items.
