Our Guides to the Top Black Friday Stores

Walmart Black Friday Guide

You'll find plenty of deals at Walmart on Black Friday, but we actually see more Staff Picks — that is, the deals we consider the best of the best — on Thanksgiving. Look for home and garden offers to dominate, like last year's deal for an 8-quart Instant Pot for $59. However, you won't find only practical items during Black Friday week. Walmart tends to have excellent gaming and toy deals, as well, like massive LEGO sets for $20 and surprisingly strong discounts on Nintendo Switch games.

Best Buy Black Friday Guide

As expected, electronics reign supreme at Best Buy. For Black Friday you can count on great TV deals, like a 58" set for only $250 or a 70" LG TV for $700. (We saw both of these offers last year.) And we fully expect to see virtual reality sets at more affordable prices for Black Friday. Don't just focus on electronics, though — items like Blu-ray movies will also be on sale, for as little as $4 each.

Amazon Black Friday Guide

Expect Amazon's Black Friday event to begin on or around November 1. However, Thanksgiving and Black Friday will be the absolute best days for deals. If you want to have a better chance of scoring Lightning Deals, in particular, download the Amazon app ahead of time. Mark the offers you're interested in to "watch" them, and then you'll receive notifications before they go live.

Target Black Friday Guide

Stock up on App Store and iTunes gift cards through a "buy one, get one" sale at Target. Typically, we see an offer that lets you buy one gift card and receive a second one at 30% off. Target also likes to reward shoppers with a coupon for a future shopping trip when they spend a certain amount on Black Friday. The store will likely have noteworthy TV deals, too, like a 55" set for $200, or a 32" TV for only $80.

GameStop Black Friday Guide

Plan to shop early at GameStop, whether that's on the day before Thanksgiving or when doors open on Turkey Day. The best deals are sure to sell out quickly, so grab them while you can. Expect the sale to feature consoles, video games, accessories, and gaming-related toys, decor, and apparel. You'll also be able to find ThinkGeek merchandise there, as that retailer's website shut down earlier this year. (Or you can venture into a brick-and-mortar ThinkGeek store, if you happen to be close to one.)
