    Nice explanation & example Jake.

    Another example...we had a new member try to register today...they contacted us that they weren't receiving the Mac-Forums new member verification email. When we tried to contact this member via their given email address (@roadrunner.com)...the email bounced back immediately...with a message "all hosts for 'roadrunner.com' have been failing for a long time".

    Moral of the story...email issues (sending or receiving) on a members end can also be responsible for why Mac-Forums subscribed thread notifications are not being received. This may not be the reason...but it is a possibility.

    Patrick, do you get the Mac-Forums newsletter? Or does that come from a different sender?

    Thanks Jake, and I do know about the differences, and according to my ISP Shaw Tech, they aren't tagging or blocking any emails, and all spams are labelled accordingly but still delivered that I deal with at my end using my Mail.app.

    I was going to ask Nick or Charles, or whoever is in charge of the vBulletin settings if I should try changing my mac-forums settings to use another email account I have already set up and see if that fixes things.

    I am assuming they will be reading this post and maybe they could post their answer or drop me a PM with an acknowledgement or suggestion of what to do as to changing my email contact address.

    Different sender...but should be going to the same Mac-Forums member account email.

    This can be changed no problem. Just PM with the different email address...and we'll make the adjustment.

    I also wonder if pine man got his lack of subscription email notification sorted out or fixed as per his recent #13 post???

    Yes, it just started working at the same time as Tomos. It was nothing that I had done and I assumed it had been resolved at the server.

    I just got a Mac-Forums Weekly Newsletter copy today thanks Bob, but it's very hit-and-miss and I don't think I've had one for many months previously.

    It also looks like it got sent by a different email server, so I don't think the two are related.

    Thanks Peter, but I guess we'll never know what the problem was or the solution with your situation.

    Thanks Nick, but is it better to PM you with my alternate email address or for me to do the changes myself in my Settings page???

    I have never received a Mac-Forums Weekly Newsletter - but I do get Email Notifications, sometimes more than one for the same thread like just now for this one - one at 2:24pm and one at 2:27pm.

    Patrick contacted me because after he changed his email he can't even get into the forum any more.

    Here is what he said:
    I was able to change my settings e-mail account to a new one.
    Then my password would not work and I was told I had to change it because it had not been changed for 145 days.
    Finally got the password sorted out with difficulty and finally working so now I could login.
    But even though I am logged in I cannot do anything as the yellow banner says: “! have not activated your account yet” which I have to tried to do umpteen times.

    I have still not received any e-mail so I have not received any authorization code;
    This is the banner I get when logged into Mac-forums site:

    see Screen Shot attached

    I do not get any email reply after clicking on the “here”, so I cannot authorize my account, so I'm basically stuck between a rock and a hard place.
    BTW - It doesn't look like the forum accepts .png files even though those are listed as valid file extensions.
    I had to change the screen shot to jpg so that I could upload it to the forum

    @Nick:

    That doesn't sound right. You and I have made email changes in the Admin panel many times before and it never locked a member out. I'm wondering if Patrick changed something in his profile that he wasn't supposed to?
