There are two recent MacPorts tickets which, I believe, involve the same error: ffmpeg and ffmpeg-devel immediately crash with segfault
I just tried that and it didn't work for me. I also tried from Launchpad and that too didn't work. I guess I'll just have to live with it like it is.

Might be. I tried it again, this time closing Mail, then double-clicking on it in the Applications folder. Opened just fine. Might be some interaction
