View Full Version : Problem installing X11

Ok - I'm trying to install this so I can use Gimp.

But, I've tried installing it 3 different times - and each time, after it goes through the process and says "installation successful....." I go to start the program I find nothing.
I search, nothing.

so - what's happening to the program when I try to install it?
Any other way of installing Gimp?

sorry - wrong forum, I was search for alt. gimp install solutions when I decided to post and forgot to click around.

G'day Silverfroth,

This is where you will find X11:

Mac OS X Install Disc 1>System>Installation>Packages>X11User.pkg

You haven't given any information re: your Mac and OS.

There are other free apps you could try if you tire of trying to install Gimp

One of them is SeaShore (click for download link) (http://www.drunkenblog.com/drunkenblog-archives/000621.html). It doesn't require X11 to run.

Thank you :)
yeah, I'm trying all types of graphics programs and the like in hopes of finding the one that's perfect for my picky needs.

I'm using OS 10.4, if that changes anything.
I'll try manually opening the contents of the disk, thanks.

That was the problem, thank you - redownloading gimp now.

I had to open it in the browser and ignore the auto-install options given to me. Thank you.
