Wow, I am a moderator and I don't even know where one would post this :D
If you guys think of a better place, by all means move it or tell me and ill move it :)

FireStorm, the software group which I am part of has created a new website. Please take a look at what we are doing. There are alot of flaws we know, but we don't know of them all, so tell me here or email us, and we will take care of it.

We are also hiring new members, so if you think your up to snuff we will take a look at you and work something out :)

Also note the Mac Forum image in the bottom left corner of every page :D nice touch eh? If you guys also have any ideas on how to promote Mac Forums better, please tell us here!

[edit] I forgot the links :)

You can put me on your list of programmers if you would like.. I deal in PHP/MySQL. That is what I do professionally and am the programmer for a lot of design shops and small businesses.

The contrast is not very good on your site.. it's hard to see some of the writing.

09-16-2003, 07:11 PM
What parts do you see the contrast issues?

09-16-2003, 07:35 PM
The little FS and Mac graphics.. I have to get up close to my screen to figure out what they say :) I can see the 'M' though at the bottom :)

09-16-2003, 10:13 PM
ah, those are suppose to be that way :D

09-16-2003, 11:06 PM
ah ok :)

09-16-2003, 11:52 PM
There I got rid of the crappy link bar all together. I still don't like somthing about the page though...

09-17-2003, 11:07 AM
The link bar is pretty much essential. I would put it back. You are alienating people this way. I feel.

PM me if you want some hosting space, BTW :)

09-17-2003, 12:16 PM
Hmm, ok, ill put that back in :) I just don't know how I want it put in.

09-17-2003, 01:06 PM
Hey, I am actually starting to like my site :)
Thanks for the suggestion Emrys :)

09-17-2003, 01:12 PM
Any reason why you are not linking your email address? If it's because of address harvesters.. they can still harvest regardless of having it linked or not.. Either have a javascript or php script or whatever language you are using to show it, or just create an image... I really need to work on my site also :) I just don't get paid to do my own site! *heh*

09-17-2003, 01:31 PM
Nahh, I am not to worried about address harvesters. I just didn't like the look of it when it was linked.

09-17-2003, 01:34 PM
ahh ok :)

09-18-2003, 12:24 PM
With a lot of help from Emrys, FireStorm Creation now owns firestormcreation.com along with a boat load of webspace!

Now if anyone feels up to it, make mac-forums.com web images to be put up all over firestormcreation.com, so everyone who visits my site can easily find this site. I will accept images of any size (resizing may be done though :) )

do you know any CSS? you could spruce up a few things, like the links for now.

i think the "version 4.0" isnt that important to most of your viewers. you might just wanna make it text at the bottom

-my $0.02

09-19-2003, 12:20 AM
yeah, i know a little CSS.. but Im scared to use it :)

I would get rid of that 4.0 and I wish I wouldn't have put that in there, but im a tad lazy to go back into photoshop and cut it out :)

and incase any of you missed the new Url its http://www.firestormcreation.com

09-19-2003, 06:37 PM
looks good :D

09-22-2003, 11:24 AM
Over the past week (sites been open lil over 4 days) the traffic increased dramatically, then dropped off alot. Any ideas on how to keep traffic high?

09-22-2003, 11:32 AM
you could always stoop to free lesbain porn...

but realistically, you need new software to get people to constatly visit

09-22-2003, 02:06 PM
LOL, I wasn't asking you :D. Though its right, so get off your @** and start working :) you know I am! Other than cocky FireStorm members how can we improve traffic? (we don't promote good relationship with our members, their ideas are useless, tee hee :D )

09-22-2003, 07:56 PM
I know but it was too funny and true to pass up :D

09-24-2003, 07:12 AM
http://www.firestormcreation.com/webdesign.html - it doesn't sound like you're actually serious about hiring people to do webdesign :) In particular:

Pass the deal line, your screwed out of everything, and kicked out of FS team. (All percents (%) are percent of total payment for site)

The site is very user-friendly/easy to navigate but I agree with Murlyn, you should use a bit of css. It'll really spice up the whole look.

Put me on your list for webdesign too, if you want a look at my work go to http://www.bigA.co.nz/, http://cew.bigA.co.nz/ and http://storytime.bigA.co.nz/ (thanks to Emrys for the hosting!)

[edit]Lesbian porn would work, too ;)

09-24-2003, 09:36 AM
Yeah, I kinda did all the text of the website, and pretty much the whole basic website in a day.. so.. its not exactly content directed... :) I really should upgrade that. Though we do have a PC user who is doing some webdesign. And since we don't have any clients, theres no point in hiring people. If we ever get around to gettin clients, ill see if we can put you to work :)

(and i think mac addikt said the Css thing :) )
Im not sure where I would put any CSS.. or how I could encorp it. I think it may just make it look unprofessional.. or tackey..

09-25-2003, 05:39 PM
It could spice up the links and get site-wide text styles pretty easily. You wouldn't need to add much, and just link to it with @import or <link rel="">

10-07-2003, 09:17 PM
Another slight addition to my site, I added advertisement from google.com, tell me what you think, I don't really think they apply to my site very well, but what ever works. I didn't really want to stoop to putting advertisement on it, or very much, but I suppose this couldn't hurt much.

It also adds revenue, so I don't mind so much :)

Absolute Zero

cooooool :)

10-09-2003, 03:37 PM
Ive added 3 more pages to my site, 2 actual pages, Design (http://www.firestormcreation.com/design.html), 3D Design (http://www.firestormcreation.com/3ddesign.html), and News (http://www.firestormcreation.com/news.html). The news is of course gotten off of this site :), mostly thanks to Murlyn's posts :D

Mac-Forums is really the backbone for my site. Thanks again :) for supporting both.

10-09-2003, 03:40 PM
*laugh* Maybe you should just write a little RSS feed script and feed it directly from the MacMinute.com site...

10-09-2003, 03:48 PM
Because Ide rather just manually put it up. I don't want everything.. just things I like :), I thought about the feed though..

10-19-2003, 05:16 PM
Yeah, So I gave in and I made a forum.. http://www.firestormcreation.com/forum Just take a look is all I ask.. and then come right back here :)

(its really just a forum for my own personal learning, nothing major)
