old jpegs won't mount

I backed up my digital photos along the way to CD. Most of the files are jpeg and PICT going back to my first B&W G3 Tower, through a progression of MacBooks and MacBook Pros (current).
The discs, labeled by jpeg file number, show up on the desktop but don't seem to hold anything. I need several of these files for a construction project. Pictures of the foundation of a building. I will, of course, get a blue stake before I dig but I wanted to see, again the original layout so I could make a plan.
Can anyone help me get the files off the disc?

As Gilda would say,"Never mind." I opened them with i-photoi but have to go thumbnail by thumbnail. My index of the photos is weak.Sorry for the distraction.
