    help! notifications disrupt text responses
any time I am responding to a text and another notification comes in its disrupts my response to the text. so i talk to respond and mid senate my s2 will just stop what its doing and show my my next notification. this seriously grinds my gears. i will have a new S4 within two weeks and hope i can fix this issue.

    A warm welcome to Mac-Forums.

I'm sorry it has taken so long to respond, but with the holidays.....

And, it would seem from your post, that you are talking about Samsung phones?? - S2 and S4?

This is an Apple-only forum. Or have I misunderstood your post?

Thank you for your quick response and for pointing confirming my misunderstanding of what devices you have.

That said, it would be helpful if you filled in a little more detail.

You are "responding to a text" on which device? The watch or the iPhone X? And what sort of notification are you talking about? Reason I ask, is that Notifications can be turned off, or modified only to appear for a few seconds. On the iPhone, this in Settings > Notifications.

From here you can make many choices: When to Show Previews; and Notification Style eg Lock Screen, Notification Centre, Banners and from there choose whether the notification is to be Temporary or Persistent.

You can turn on/off Sounds. And you can make these choices for each separate app on your iPhone X.

And as the X is the means by which these reach the Apple Watch, you have control.

The rest of your post I found a little difficult to understand; sorry.

For example. When Iím responding, using dictation, to respond to a text and another text comes through or a fb notification comes through it interrupts my response And I have to start all over again. I want the notifications but donít want them to distrupt when Iím in the middle of something like responding to a text.

As Ian asked, is this happening on your iPhone X, Apple Watch, or both? I rarely text with my Apple Watch, but I also have an iPhone X and Messages is set to allow banner-style notifications that pop up while I'm doing other things, and I've never had it interrupt my texting other than hearing the notification sound and seeing the banner.

OK. Getting a clearer picture. Thank you for your patience.

As you are using dictation to "type" your texts, what I would suggest is that you go into Settings > Notifications and turn off "Sound". That will, at least, silence them all.

Then, following my comments above, choose Banners > Temporary. Unfortunately, you will have to do this for each app. They are all listed here.

    Give that a try.

You make the changes on your iPhone X.

The iPhone acts as the conduit for texts and messages, received & sent to/from your Watch; and for Notifications you get on your Watch.

As has been suggested, open the Apple Watch App on the iPhone, then you should be on the My Watch page and tap Notifications. You will see all the apps that want to send notifications. Tap each in turn and select what you want. The default is to follow the iPhone settings, but you can turn off Notifications altogether for an app, have it send the notification to the Notification Center or just display the notification. A bit further down are settings for alerts, with just on/off sliders for whether or not to allow them by each app.
