Is it possible to Home Share to AppleTV via Powerline Adapters?
    Hi.

When sharing iTunes Home Sharing to ATV using the regular router set-up all works, when using a Powerline Adapter nothing shows, i.e. the link to the library on the regular Mac is then stopped.

Is there a reason why ATV doesn't permit library sharing via Powerline adapters?

Could be your power line adapter is on a different circuit. Isolated from the circuit you want to get to.
Not all house and office wiring will be on the same or common circuit.
I have power line adapters everywhere here. They all connect to everything, including the tv/AppleTV/computes etc.

Oh, and do you have Ethernet on the Mac as well as wireless?

    Hmmm.

OK, so I can connect to the internet, via AppleTV, with the adapter - but at that point, the Home Sharing element stops. Even if the Mac is on the same network i.e. through the adapter.

    - - - Updated - - -

The Mac is upstairs on the same network as fed through the adapter, ATV downstairs - both ATV and the Mac are wireless. Although the adapter, near the ATV, does have an ethernet option.

It basically boils down to: every aspect of the wifi of the ATV works with the main network or the sub-powerline one, except Home Sharing, that just disappears when the powerline is in use.

I've read about this and it does seem fairly common but I can't find a resolve.

rachalmers ... out of interest, which adapters are you using successfully?

TP-Link. I have the Ethernet on the Wireless Hub connected to one, and the others variously to the ATV, Macs x 2, 2 TVs, Sky-Q boxes, and a Hive home heating hub.

Just coming back to this, and someone else might find this useful with Powerline adapters ... turning IPv6 'off' allowed the connection to work with Home Sharing.

    Go figure.
