Sounds interesting for sure. I wonder what video chipset will be in it and also the new MBPs when they come out? If it's just a larger air, a integrated will be fine but not on an MBP.

The problem with those "real thin" machines is that they're more difficult to cool. I'm guessing it may have on-board GPU integrated with the CPU as in the Intel HD 3000 only more powerful.

I have a problem with this if this trend towards "thinning" comes at the cost of good internals. I'm hoping that these ultra thin notebooks complement the MBP line and don't replace it.

Isn't this the same rumor that was a 15" Air?

I don't care how thin they can make it if we lose graphics/processing power due to cooling abilities. If they make the 15" Air, they better keep the 15" MBP as well for real power use, and hope that the rumors of the MBP inevitably merging with the Air in the future is false.

I love my MBA 13" and would also love a 15" MBA/MB. That said, it would be a disservice if they supplanted the full powered (and moderately upgradable) 15" MBP with something less than what it is. I could live with a thin 15" MBP sans-superdrive, but not with any sort of diminished processing and graphics. Also, I'd have to assume a 15" MBP would have soldered RAM (like a MBA) and thus be non-upgradable? Would it's SSD be semi-upgradable like the MBA? Guess we'll wait and see.

I'm using an air and I love it.
I can take it anywhere but it is a bit small to watch movies and whatnot on it.
A bigger screen would definitely be nice!
    and yes, definitely no compromises!!

When you say "testing" what does this mean? somthing will be out in years to come? a protype that is about to go to market? i think i would rather have a 15" air than a 13" air but if its gonna be 3 years before a product is out then what difference does it make to the end user at this point. I love rumors and reports but frankly I think it hinders much of my purchases because i keep thinking somthing better is gonna come out. i am sitting here on a boat load of dough (i have exactly $43.23 on me right now) and i never spend any of it because i am to worried somthing new is coming out.

Anyways OneMoreThing thanks for all you do and keep up the good work.

I love the 13" MBA that I currently share with the Mrs. I really hope that replacing the MBP with any Air is not even on the table for options to be considered.

I was seriously looking at the maxed out 13 air when it came out. Would like to have a bit more storage space than the air would afford. Hoping the 2012 macbook pro will have discrete graphics, quad core and the dual ssd/hd setup. Keep it slim and we are in business. The 13 inch pro could also be an option for me if it had a discrete graphics chip.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't really see the point of an ultra thin notebook - especially with a 15" screen.
