    Autopsy Of A Keyboard
    Hi All!
After I replaced a keyboard with some troubles, I took the old one apart layer by layer to see how it worked. I was fascinated, but I'm easily entertained.

Photos are attached of each layer.

Perhaps this will prove useful for someone in diagnosing their keyboard problems. (Mine had a problem with the left command key. Bob & Patrick were very helpful in diagnosing the problem. Thanks to both!)
The autopsy revealed that the problem was lint between layers. Removing the lint fixed the keyboard.

The unit is a 2007 MacBook Pro, model 3,1 1226. Other than the scissors mechanism, the basics are likely similar to modern keyboards.

    Enjoy!
    Paul

Keyboard are so intricate and tiny little things. I'm surprised they stay working for as long as they do...considering everyone hammers on those keys every day. It really surprised me.
