Macbook 2015 13" Failing to Start
Hi there, I have another "does not start" MacBook Air A1466 13", and its got me stuffed. I have reset the SMC and NVRAM to no avail.

If I disconnect the magsafe and the battery, then re-connect the magsafe then the MacBook will start OK without using teh power button. Once started I can turn it off with the power button OK, which I think tells me that the upper case is alright. While running, if I disconnect the magsafe the machine will shut off regardless of whether the battery is connected or not. Once I have shut it down I cannot restart it without disconnecting power/battery etc.

The magsafe light starts at green and then goes to orange, staying there whether or not the battery is connected.

Once I have started the machine, it tells me that there is not a battery connected, which is fine and fits with what I am getting, but this was a sudden failure. My daughter re-connected power after the battery hit 4%, and then the machine powered off and that was the end of it. Also teh machine will not start with the power button with the magsafe connected and the battery disconnected.

I have run the diagnostics at start-up, and I get no errors other than the battery is not connected (when it is). I suppose what I am looking for is an opinion as to whether I am looking at replacing the DC input board (cheap), the battery (less cheap) or if it is the logic board and I should just bin the whole thing.

Any help I get on this is very much appreciated. This is my first post, but I am emotionally robust enough to be told I am missing the obvious.

I suggest downloading the free "coconut battery app" which is free. Use it to see what it says about the battery before deciding on what to do. Let us know and we can go from there.

Sorry, should have mentioned. I installed the app and it was also off the view that no battery is connected. Unfortunately I have left the machine desk at work, so I have got to get through the weekend before I can try anything else. Thanks for answering.

how much battery usage does the macbook air been through?
seems to me that is the problem. running the coconut battery app and th eone that is in your MBA will diagnose the status.
    if this is an consolation,
Mine had that happening last month were i found out the battery latch was popping out-somehow.
another incident was just this tuesday i ran a time machine back-up, unplugged the external HD and quickly unplugged the chord, which shut down the macbook air. the battery was intact, i guess that was to much RAM or who knows?
when you get the macbook back just run those battery tests, if possible.
