    SATA to PCIE
    Hello,

    I have a 2012 MBP non-retina.

I was hoping to upgrade the HDD to a SSD - but obviously the SSD's speeds are completely dependent on the SATA III connector it feeds to. I'm wanting to know if it's possible to remove the SATA III connector and install a PCIE connector instead, which would allow me to install something that does much better than 500 mbps. Would it be possible to connect a PCIE card to thunderbolt and boot from that at start-up?

Thoughts? I've done some googling to no avail.

I believe you will be limited to the 2.5" model SSDs. You can see if xlr8yourmac.com has any tips. But if you did an internet search, then probably not.

Please backup. Everything has a life cycle, unexpected and warning free. Nothing will last as long as you want it to.

    Thank you Ferrarr.

I took a look at that resource and was unable to find anything.

I guess I'll reserve myself to living within these boundaries!
