Bring back the badass black MacBook
Apple can now manage black aluminum from iPhone 7
Maybe they offer jet black or even the full iPhone color line?

Get a coloured plastic cover - personalises and protects ( sounds like an insurance company slogan!).

If the shoe fits, buy it in every colour.

When I purchased my white MacBook back in 2008 I also bought a black hard case (InCase design - black) for it and kept it on until I sold the machine 4 years later. There are a myriad of covers and cases for MacBook Pros and even the newer retina MacBooks.

I think they will release the new pro in ALL phone colours like the iPad pro and the regular macbook. So I think your going to get your wish! I am hoping to get a new space grey MBP.

Wishful thinking. There's nothing in the rumor mill that indicates Apple is going to release the new MacBook Pros and MacBook Air in iPhone colors. The retina MacBook is available in 4 colors: Silver, Space Gray, Gold, and Rose Gold. I suspect the new MacBook Pros and maybe the MacBook Air will be likewise. But probably not the same colors as the new iPhone 7.

I think the air is gone. Its going to be the MB and MBP. I am going by what apple did with the iPad pro. I think they are going to release them in the all the latest available iPhone colours…But probably not the piano black, just the matte black.

I'm glad manufacturers have veered away from the awful pale greige of early days but, having shopped around to get a good price on my gold 5s, I realised there was no point seeking a particular colour because I straightaway put on a protective cover (wine glass - emergency supply ); same with MBP (turquoise). Even if you never take your notebook out of the house it can get scuffed with frequent use.

Yeah, I had to have a gold iPhone but I immediately put a protective leather case on it and never see the color. I do use clear case covers on my MB Air and MBP so I can see the silver color. If I decide to get a new mac laptop I would definitely get a gold one. I love that color.

Not quite. The 13" MBA will remain, but will likely be killed off next year or so in lieu of the Macbook surviving..

According to usually reliable sources, the MacBook Air 13" will be updated this year along with new 13" and 15" MacBook Pros. However, I agree with Ashwin that the Air will likely be retired in 2017 or at the next refresh.

Definitely some sort of brand consolidation is, should, or needs to happen in the Apple portable line-up. In the beginning the MacBook Air was the thin, light, sleek Apple portable model. When Apple got rid of the optical drive, used soldered in RAM, and used flash storage instead of a hard drive...all Apple portables became "MacBook Air's"! There's just too much overlap between MacBook's, MacBook Air's, and MacBook Pro's.

I can certainly see Apple returning to the old 2-tiered system of MacBook's being a "consumer" level model (email, internet, music, vidoes, social networking)...and "MacBook Pro's" being a more a "professional" model. Faster more powerful CPU's and GPU's...for folks that do work related stuff like crunching spreadsheets, heavy duty photo or video work rendering, Adobe apps, or just folks who consider themselves "power-users"...and want the best and most powerful Apple offers.

The new MBP's were announced today and while not the black of old, Space Gray is an option..
