How do I get rid of the region code that my drive is set to?
I've already used up my 5 chances to change the region on my drive. At the moment it is at Region 1, and I want to be able to play other DVDs from other regions because I have DVDs from several regions.

I understand one way is to use VLC, but I would rather use the DVD player, are there any free ways to get round this, whether through applications or going to the Mac center and asking for help?

I read about Region X, and downloaded it, but when I tried to run it, I got the warning that "a Region free RPC-1 drive is required.....
Unless firmware has been intentionally udated, your DVD region is locked.....if you proceed with Region X, you'll lock your drive." So I stopped trying to launch the application. Ahhh what should I do now?

Thanks in advance! I know this is probably an oft asked question, but I can't seem to find an answer through google. I'm afraid of messing up my computer too.

The region code, once set the last time, is permanently set into your DVD drive. The only way to use DVD-Player to read a disc from another region is to use an external region free DVD drive. Unfortunately, I think VLC is going to be your best bet.

I read, some time back, that Apple is suppose to be able to reset this one time.
Don't remember where or even if it's true at this point.
Sure can't hurt to take it in and ask though.
Worst they can do is say no.
I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth.
In the Windows world, most everything folks don't understand is called a virus.
