OK, after rummaging through a ton of old computer stuff I found my Snow Leopard OS disc. (and a pair of hiking socks!) I thought I had one so have held off trying to order one. I plopped it into the disk drive on the Mac Pro 2006 1,1 and the disk did not show up on the screen after several seconds. I guess the drive isn't reading? The only other option I can think of is to burn a flash drive using the SL disk and the iMac but I don't know how to do that as, understandably, I've never done this before. How do I do this or is there something to make the disk work on the Mac Pro? I'm out of my league here.

Admins do not like cross posting. Haver answered your other thread.
Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!

I simply wasn't certain where to post. I'll be careful not to do this again.

Assuming your Finder preferences are set to show mounted cd/dvd discs, you may want to get an optical disc cleaner and run it in the drive and also get a can of electronic Duster and use it to give the drive some substantial blasts of air inside the slot using the tube that comes with the cans. That may get it reading by removing the dust that has probably collected on the inside lens.
