    Question iMac Trackpad
My iMac Trackpad, approximately 3 years old will no longer "click." I don't know what exactly moves to make contact when pressing on the trackpad but it longer works. Swiping works fine. Just wondering if there were any fixes. Doesn't really look like there is anything that could be done though.

Don't know if this will help Bob, but Radio Shack currently has the Magic Trackpad on sale for $39.95. (In case you can't repair yours and want to buy another.)

You can set your trackpad to accept "taps" rather than "clicks" -- that's what I had to do when mine was affected by an expanded battery and would no longer click (even after the battery was replaced).

Turn the trackpad over - the two little feet at the bottom of the trackpad are what moves to cause the click.

If they are still working, have you moved your trackpad onto some soft surface - bed, arm of chair, etc, so that they don't move when pressing on the top of it?

If so, you could tape a couple of old credit cards to the bottom of it so that there is something hard underneath for the feet to move against when you require a click vs a tap to click. I'm using a couple of old iTunes gift cards taped to the bottom of mine with electrical tape.

Thanks never thought of using traps. Works great. Also the suggestion to check the feet is also good. If I press on the feet, it does click and one is noticeably worn. I will see if I can repair it with something.

OMG! I did not know it was all in the feet! I had to turn my trackpad over and play with it....which created some interesting results on my mac.

bobtomay - Could not rep you for the tip though - must have been liking your ideas too much lately.
