Anyone else experiencing mac-forums login problems that I experienced most of yesterday and again today??

Something about Database error but the suggested fixes usually did not work.

I imagine the Internet servers for credit card purchases etc. were extremely busy yesterday and today, probably the busiest shopping days of the year and may have caused a bit of disruption.

We were experiencing data base errors last night but it cleared up after about an hour or so. Nick took care of it.

I saw the problem yesterday, but not today.

When that happens Patrick, there is nothing you can do on your end to fix that - just try logging in again after a few hours or the next day.

This type of problem btw has nothing to do with the internet being busy.

So what is the actual cause...???

I did notice that when it did work, it was very slow to do so, also the same as at another vBulletin Mac forum site, or at least what used to be!!!

So what is the actual cause...???

It's a problem with the mySQL database used by vBulletin and/or the server vBulletin runs on.

I received different error messages each time I tried to log in - one that the server had gone away and one that there were too many connections.
However, the error messages one gets do not always reflect what has actually happened.
The only thing for sure is that your request to access the forum was received, ie no problem with the net making the connection, but the server that vBulletin runs on could not respond properly.
The actual causes could be many, but they are problems with the server not the net.

Database error was back again this morning

- - - Updated - - -

Hmmm..

Only had part of my message posted.
The whole message (which luckily I saved) was:
Database error was back again this morning.
Works now but there is still something wrong -when I click on "Post Quick Reply" instead of of posting the message I get the window with
"This page is asking you to confirm that you want to leave - data you have entered may not be saved" popping up.

I also had issue trying to access the forums earlier. But, the iOS app works.

I'm attaching that to this thread in the hopes an admin will see it (and it posts here):

I'm trying to start new thread - just get a blank page when clicking on "Submit New Thread"

Tried several times all morning, including going via "Preview Post" always the same - just a blank page:

@krs and everyone else:

We are aware of the problems with logging on and starting a new thread.

Please be patient, we are working to get things back to normal.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

We've seen that problem for a number of users (including Staff) for the past couple of days. The issue seems to be isolated and replied to threads seem to be unaffected. We are have been looking to get to the bottom of that issue, but have not yet.

Thanks for reporting..

Yes, replies seem to be unaffected.

But I noticed that one also gets the blank page when editing one's post, but then sometimes the editing does show up.

Separate from this problem, it also highlighted another issue for me - that there is no way to contact anyone if the website does not work - all contact is via the forum website.

CONTACT US brings up a web page which didn't work, the Feedback area didn't work - it was just by chance that I saw people replying to posts at 11:00am this morning so I tried that as well.
"CONTACT US" should have an email address listed; it would also help if one of the moderators had posted that there was an issue - be proactive rather than reactive.

I'm perfectly happy to be patient - I have dealt with a lot with software issues in my time - but please let the members know that there is (or maybe a problem) - especially if it has been going on for a couple of days.

That would have been nice and helpful.

I still can't login using my iPad 2 (iOS 9.3.6) again yet my iMac (Mavericks) that I've just been able to use at home still works as expected.

Ah, so it's a known issue. I had a problem last week replying to a post I created. Jake had replied and I tried several times to post a reply with an image but each time I pressed preview or reply I too got a blank page.

I can’t speak for all of us, but since I am unable to make new Threads my attempts to create a general message have disappeared into the “Blank Screen”.

Hey Nick if you need any testers I'd be glad to help. I did regression testing for field software for a couple of years.

Hey, I now get logged in automatically on my iPad2 yet I couldn't even login manually yesterday.
So things are improving.

My iMac running Mavericks was/is working fine.

UPDATE: Sorry, wrong incorrect info. I only get logged in if I am replying to a post I have already replied to via an email subscription notification on my iPad 2.

As I posted earlier, No such problem here on my iMac running Mavericks OS 9.

Start new thread produces a brand new page ready to type in just like it always did.

Still can't log-in on my iPad 2 running iOS 9 3 6 but no big deal as ill probably just carry on using my iMac. The iOS and it's apps drive me crazy but it was all I could use while in the hospital. But I'm back home now!!!!
