Did you go into the Settings for AdGuard AdBlocker? In your browsers Preferences, then make sure you have the different options enabled.

Whichever browser (Safari, Firefox, Chrome, Edge, etc.) you are using, go into the "Preferences" aka Settings, and go to the Extensions or Add-ons tab, and make sure you have enabled the AdGuard AdBlocker features you want blocked. You need to confirm it was setup to block content for it to work. With macOS Mojave, and now Catalina, this is for added "OS system" security that you must activate these features individually.

@Tomos:

Couple of suggestions:

1. Please post in the correct forum. The Lounge is not the catch all place to post. We removed your first post.

2. Please use the forum quoting feature. We can't tell from your replies if you're quoting or stating. Example below:

How do I stop this when opening the front page of forum. I have a add blocker AdGuard

Thanks.

@David

What I'm not clear about is whether your AdGuard is an app (ie is to be found in Finder > applications); or is a Browser Extension - by this, I mean that is added to your Browser.

If it's an app, you need to open it within Applications (usually double click).

If a Browser Extension -

I don't know which Browser you use, but for example - if Safari, it would be found as follows. Open Safari, then use the Keyboard shortcut, Command + comma to take you into Safari's Preferences. Once there, click on "Extensions". That will open a window and show you all your extensions (if you have any). If you see AdGuard, make sure it is checked, to enable it.

This approach works with most Browsers (including the Command + comma shortcut).

Brilliant, David. Thanks.

So yours is a Browser Extension - quite possibly acquired from the App Store?? I say that because the AdGuard app is usually only purchasable from their website (that's what I have).

Well, you've certainly got all the boxes checked!:)

If you are still seeing the Ads at the top of the Forums page, then we can try the time-honoured options of:

Log out of the Forums.
Quit Safari (not close - Quit; either by using Command + Q or clicking on the Safari icon in the top menu bar and choosing Quit from the drop down. I'm not being rude, David, I'm sure you know all that; but some people do confuse Quit with Close:) )

Now reopen Safari, Log In to the Forums and all Ads should be gone - unless you Whitelisted the Forums. You probably didn't because that requires positive action by you and you would've remembered doing that.

I also use AdBlock, as another content blocker.
