Hi.
Slight prob when I go to open this forum as the front page opens up with a lot of options.Only noticed this over the last few days.
Is it me or the forums setup that has been chained.
Image included.
Many thanks.
Cavid.

I assume Tomos gets this.

A bit annoying because it covers about 2/3 of my screen and I have to scroll to see more than the few first new posts, but I can live with that.

It's an ad. If you have an ad-blocker installer it may block it. If no ad-blocker installed...that's most likely why it's seen.

Don't see that with Brave browser.

I have been trying the Brave browser for a while but I'm about to ditch it because there are too many bsic things (nothing todo with ads) it just fails at.

Depends on the browser you use.

You start by clicking on the image icon above - in the reply window third from the right, then browse, and then upload.
Image has to be 800 pixels or smaller.
Firefox, Waterfox, iCab browsers work a bit different

Click on this icon:

S2.jpg

You will see this:

S3.jpg

Make sure it highlights "Computer" as in my example.

Choose file (red Arrow). On your Mac, navigate to the image (I always have them on the Desktop, where screenshots go automatically in any case). When chosen, you will see Upload Files (where Yellow arrow is). Click on that.

NB For each image you want to to upload, first open it with Preview, then under Tools > Adjust Size and reduce the size by looking at Width and reducing the number to below 800 - usually somewhere around 500 is okay.

As to uploading an image in this forum, one only gets what Ian posted in some browsers - that's why I said it depends on the browser.
It shouldn't, but that is a problem with the HTML code of the forum software.

For these browsers you get the image below when you click on the image icon in the forum
FireFox
WaterFox
Opera
iCab
Cliqz
These are all the browsers I checked that will give you the image I posted here.

If you use any of those browsers, you have to click on "Basic Downloader" first see arrow) to get to the window Ian posted.
Ignore the black box at the bottom, middle - iCab showed the text in that box, but the others just show it as black

The image Ian posted is what you get with Brave, Safari and Chrome

It depends on the OS versioning which browser as well?

Personally, I use:

Adguard, AdGuard — World's most advanced adblocker!.
Ghostery, Ghostery Makes the Web Cleaner, Faster and Safer!.
ublock, uBlock - A Fast and Efficient Ad Blocker. Easy on CPU and Memory..

Also be aware, Mojave and Catalina have more security when using extensions with Safari, so not all are compatible, or they may need be installed/purchased through the macOS App Store.

Edit: I don't use ublock anymore (w/ Catalina), I'm using AdBlock, Surf the web without annoying pop ups and ads!.
