Decided it was finally time to purchase a new computer. Can someone give me a range of pricing I might ask for this one? I am the original owner and have all the stuff it came with. I did upgrade to Snow Leopard earlier this year. It has Office for Mac also.

It has been used for web surfing and email. Never played any games on it. The optical drive quit working about a year ago.

Was having some kernal panics so replaced the hard drive earlier this year. At the same time upgraded the memory through OWC. I recently purchased a new battery even though my old one was still working. Two weeks ago I purchased a new adapter. The battery and adapter were purchased from the Apple store.

I thought it was my old adapter going out but it is not getting a good connection at the adapter site. It finally connects with some jiggling but there is probably some corrosion there. So the old adapter is still good too. I also have a third adapter that worked until my dog ate the T part.

Trying to be very honest about all its issues. It's been a great notebook for sure.

Did this solve the kernel panics?

First let me say thanks for the honestly.:)

Now I need to be honest. Way too much $$$ was spent on this computer. The new adapter's, new battery, ram upgrade, hard drive replacement. All of these are reasonable parts to replace…and because they were probably replaced one at a time…and the overall investment probably did seem too bad at the time each part was purchased.

But a 100% working 2008 MacBook is probably worth about $150 bucks. And in this case…need to subtract the fact that the optical drive doesn't work. And hopefully the kernel panic problem was resolved.

So there you go…somewhere on the neighborhood of $150 (less for the non-functioning optical drive). You may possibly get a little more on eBay…but not much. And after paying eBay fees…the "extra" may be "eaten up".

p.s. Rethinking things. The new battery may add some extra value to the computer. But I wouldn't hope for anything much above $175-$200.

Thanks

I might be better off selling the "extra" stuff separately (adapter and battery), especially since all the original stuff still works and is pretty much new and genuine. I do realize I should have bought a new computer when ya'll told me to. I just hate the learning curve I am about to undergo!

This is a great idea (selling the new parts separately):)…which I should have mentioned.

If you still have the old battery…and still have a used/working power adaptor…then you could use these with the computer to sell the computer separately.:)
