Good evening,

I need advice. I purchased a crowd funded item and paid for the item as and when required.

The item was posted (snail mail) but the time span has by now exceeded 80 odd days. Two problems have been identified:

I received mail from the seller and a tracking number for a well known international snail mail service provider. Problem 1 is that date indicated as sent by the seller and first date accepted by snail mail service provider differs with about 5 days. Problem 2 is that the postal workers in the country I live are on strike.

I have requested that the seller sent another similar item by well known courier and that I would pay for the costs involved with the courier.

The seller's viewpoint is that once the item has left him, he's not responsible at all and that the buyer should accept the risk.

What should I do?

Please advise.

Firstly…you've been rather vague & cryptic with the info posted…so its sort of hard to connect with the details. But maybe not important.

But...

- Since we don't know the item involved.
- Since we do not know the carrier involved.
- Since we do not know what speed of service is involved.
- And since we do not know the country/country's involved.

It's pretty difficult to know if 5 days between the seller & the shipper is important. I'm going to say no…since hey…the shipper got the item & you got a tracking number.

As far as the seller sending you another item. I agree with the seller. They shipped the item in good faith…now the shipping company/postal service needs to deliver it in good faith.

Your issue now is with the shipping company. If it's been 80 days since the item is shipped…I think that you can pretty much assume by now that this item has been lost in the system…or someone stole the item (it does happen).

And of course…what can any of us do about a postal workers strike!

- Nick
