Hi all,

I'm selling my early 2008 8 core (2x quad core 2.8 GHz) Mac Pro.

It has 6 gigs of ram
2x 640Gig HD
1x 500Gig HD
1x 320Gig HD

2x superdrives

8800GT video card
(I also have a Radeon HD 6870 flashed for OSX use as well as a radeon 2600 if interested)

It currently has OSX Mountain Lion installed on it

I'd prefer to sell it locally if at all possible (the thing is heavy and shipping would be expensive), I am in mid central TN south of Nashville

I have a 20" LCD I'd be willing to throw in as well as a keyboard (although I currently have no spare mice)

The system works well, I've just shifted to using a laptop as my primary system.

It was unfortunately already spent (and then some ;) ) when I bought the MBP + thunderbolt display... Love the new system, just wish I was able to pay more of it off with the sale of my old one :D

Yeah it is - but I have to admit, I REALLY like being able to have everything connected at home and just connect the mag connector and thunderbolt from the display into my laptop and have access to everything rather then needing my AC adapter and a display and a USB hub as well as some other breakout to get FW800 and gigabit ethernet.

Even if I eventually get an iMac, I'll just shift the thunderbolt to a secondary display ;)

The only thing that could be better is if the MBP had a bit more of a powerful GPU. the 1GB 650M isn't a bad GPU, just wish Apple had put something a little bit higher end in :)

The only other disappointment with the MBP is Apples use of a 5400rpm drive considering there are 7200rpm 1tb drives available...

As nice as the 27" Thunderbolt displays are…I don't think I could ever allow myself to buy one brand new (too pricey…just me I guess)…unless I wine the lottery;) They do have some nice convenience features over other large displays.:)

I always think that if I was going to spend the money for a 27" Thunderbolt display…I might as well spend a bit more…and just get a 27" iMac (low end). But again…with that choice…you lose some of the convenience features of the Thunderbolt display (especially when the computer attached to it is a laptop).:)

27" Thunderbolt Display + Apple Laptop = Pretty Awesome Setup!!!:)

Well, I seriously considered the 27" iMac, but I also don't want two systems at my desk just so I can play the games I enjoy and the old iMac GPU was kinda lower in the rankings (the new one that's coming looks to be fairly nice) - I really wanted to have a 27" iMac and a MBP, but I decided to not wait and just get the MBP and a refurb TB display.

Eventually I'll probably get a refurb new 27" and move the MBP back to portable duty :)

This is sort of where I'm at the moment as well. Just like you I'm operating primarily with a MBP + external monitor…and since selling my Mac Pro a few months ago…I've been "eyeing" up getting a 27" iMac (love that display).:)

The display is gorgeous. One of the other reasons I want to wait at this point (aside from saving money by getting refurb) is the shear fact that this new release of the 27" is new logic board, new gpu, etc. and I want to wait to see what kinds of issues (if any) crop up before I leap into a potential 2K+ system. I also can't deny that my electric bill has gone down since getting rid of the Mac Pro :D

I can verify this as well!:) Just for fun I have a watt meter that I plug my computers into every now & then…to see how much "juice" is being used.

With my old 8-core Mac Pro…it was using between 130-250 watts…my 2011 17" MBP uses between 35-60 watts. My computers are usually on 12-16 hours/day...so it adds up.
