• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

hi all...

so i've previously been working on FCP Studio for some larger editing projects.

i need have to do some additional work that is much smaller in scale, and was wondering if Final Cut Express might do the trick?

is there a vast difference (besides the price) between the two versions?

any info would be great.

PS: i'm guessing both versions are currently compatible with Leopard?

From what I've read and seen of both products, I don't see why you would down grade to FCE. It is a cut down version of FCP so I can't see any gain for you. No efficency would be gained. It isn't a whole new application with new thoughts on editing like iMovie 08.

Of course if you personally don't have either, then FCE is likely a good product for where your demands don't include those extra things FCP handles. Go check the specs of each product since only you know your needs.
